Welcome to Other People's Perspective, a place for you to listen, learn, laugh, and always feel better at the end of every episode, taking something bigger away from it for you and others. And now, here's your host, Freddy Cocek

Welcome back, everybody. This is Other People's Perspective. I'm your host, Freddy Cocek Today, I'm visiting with a friend of mine, Pedro Meneses. Is that correct? Is that correct? That's correct, bro. Yeah. Okay. Sounds good. Thank you. Appreciate it. I better be able to give a little bit of, you know, Spanish pronunciation. I grew up in South Texas, so I should know some Spanish.

Freddy Cocek

Yeah.

Pedro Meneses

Pedro lives in what area? I know you're in Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Freddy Cocek

Yeah, in the Dallas area. Yeah, North Dallas.

Pedro's in the, in the real estate space in, uh, Dallas, Fort Worth area. And, um, this is actually the first time we've had the opportunity to talk and visit in a few months and had a little chitchat here before we start recording, but it's been good, man. How, uh, we talked about, you know, how, how things are on y'all's end, you know, having a new baby, that's just, just shy of being a year old. Now things are happening fast.

Yeah, absolutely, man. Yeah, it's crazy, man. You know, I mean, I'm glad we were able to do this because. Like I said, we haven't talked in several months, but I think a lot of people have noticed because I know some people have reached out like where you've been. You know, it's just I kind of took a sabbatical from all the all the social media stuff a little bit. I'm still running my mouse here and there, but you got to let them know sometimes you got to state your state, your presence. Yeah, absolutely. But kind of far off. Yeah. Cut off of like writing all the content that I used to put out there and being a networking events. And I haven't attended any networking event this year. Not none. You know, it's just I don't know, man. Sometimes I think you get overwhelmed. And I think twenty twenty four has been a very overwhelming year for for a lot of people in different areas or different aspects, you know, and sometimes I agree. Dabber all at once, you know, especially in our space with entrepreneurship, man, I think it's been taking a toll on everybody. You know what I mean?

So in general, we have the general consensus from a lot of people is that this is a it's been a pretty I don't want to say a tough year because I don't want it to sound bad, but it's it's had a lot of it's had its own challenge. Yeah, man, it's been a little rough around the edges.

I feel like we get into the end of the year. I'm like, fuck, we made it, but we got through it. But shit, man.

Like the little engine, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

We're going to make it. I don't know if you have noticed, man, but I feel like a lot of people now, like everybody's just so into the holiday season this year, man. It's almost like, like they want the form that warms us, the feelings again, because we haven't felt that in a very long time. Yeah.

Let's, let's, let's just, let's fast forward to Christmas and thinking about gifts and shit. It was like three, three weeks ago. I was in, I was in the Academy looking for some stuff. It was, it was like two or three weeks ago. And I went in and they were playing Christmas music. I'm like, at that point it was still almost a month until Thanksgiving. I'm like, Holy shit. I was like, well, you know, I agree with you. You know, it's, it's like, if we're at that point in the year where everybody wants to just Let's, let's get past the last nine or 10 months and let's just go ahead and fast forward.

Yeah. It's been a, it's been a, it's been a very intense year, man. You know? So I think that's why people feel that way. I mean, I feel that way, man. I feel, I just want to tell you the entire month of December off. It was like, fuck all of this.

Yeah. Well, that's, you know, like I was, I was telling you, you know, since I sold out of my business, got out of my oil and gas business, um, you know, I, By my nature, it feels kind of weird and kind of foreign to me to not be, I don't have to think and worry or have that in the back of my mind or even in the front of my mind about You know, my business that I was in was essentially like a 24-7, you know, most oil and gas operations are like 24, you know, it's 24 hours a day, seven days a week, something is going on. So for years and years, I'd been kind of conditioned to worrying about, you know, shit, is my phone going to ring in the middle of the night? Well, what's going on? I'm thinking about, stuff that happened, you know, throughout the course of the day. Did such and such get finished, man? What am I? You know, I always had this shit like worrying on my brain, like, man, what what didn't get done that I know. I might have to contend with or I might get a call in the middle of the night and like that shit still like on the weekends, I mean, I worry about I almost feel guilty now if I I just always used to carrying my phone around because I for years and years and years, I put my number and my name out there to people. you know, with the anticipation that somebody may call because there may be a job or something that needs to, you know, job comes up, something needs to be taken care of. And I wanted to be available to handle that. You know, if you if you're going to try and run a legitimate business and be, you know, tell people that you're going to be available, then fuck, you got to be available. Yeah. So like now I I'm in the position right now where I don't have to worry about that, but I still subconsciously worry about it. I'm like, you know, it's you know, it's kind of like old habits die hard. And I'm still thinking, well, fuck, what didn't I get done today? And I'm like, all that shit, let it rest for now. Just try to spend, we closed in the middle of October. So it's been about five weeks now, five and a half weeks since we closed. And I haven't had to worry about anything concerning that. It's been strange, but it's like really like a breath of fresh air. It's like you're talking about taking the rest of the year off. I'm like, yeah, I'm just.

Yeah, man, dedicate the rest of the year to go hunting. I've been trying to do some of that. Send me my invitation.

Yeah, there you go. Yeah, come on with it. I got a lot of free time.

But, you know, man, I like I love the name of your podcast. I pretty much like giving other people's perspective. You know what I mean? When we started real estate, I remember that at the same time that I was growing in my self-development, having mentors, you know, being part of different groups and stuff like that. And I always heard the grind, grind, 24 hours, you have to bust your ass and blah, blah, blah. But I always felt at some point that that was not like the way to do things, you know, because I think there has to be a balance and an order in your life. Absolutely. I remember the first couple of years in real estate, we kind of started going down that way, where we were like having lunch on a Sunday after church and then not even being present because we were on our phones and we're just applying to people and it came through and things like that, right? That's why I think... This year that I took a couple steps back just to kind of like look where we are and put some things in order as far as systems and things like that. I think one of the greatest thing anybody can make. uh, in their business, especially the first few years, you start putting systems in place and boundaries, you know, because man, for years, uh, after the first, almost two years, we started changing those things, you know, and when I talk to people in real estate, man, or other agents, and I tell them that I don't work on Sundays, it's almost like, Like, if you offend them, like, why get offended? Like, I don't work for Sundays. And like, why do you don't work Sundays? Like, because that's the day for me and my family. That's the day that I don't, I need to take off. I don't deal with anybody. And you know, man, it's been working pretty well for us. You know, it's been working pretty well for us telling people that unless We don't have an option because they're finished work at five. They're not home until like seven o'clock at night. But usually, man, after five or six o'clock, I'm not on the phone with people. I'm not. I don't answer my phone if somebody wants to ask me a question about real estate or clients have a question about a property or anything like that. I simply like, hey, I can talk to you tomorrow unless it's urgent, you know, unless it's something that we really need to address is I know after six o'clock, man, it's time for me and my family. You know, it's time for me to rest because, you know, man, then you start. Then you end up burnout, you know, then you end up like you don't want to do anything. You know, you're overwhelmed. You don't you cannot think clearly. And I've been there, you know, even having days off. every week, I've been there. So it's just so important to set up those boundaries, man, because this, I think that shit is, I think it's dying. Finally, this mentality of like, you have to work your ass off for 24 hours. No, man, you have balance in your life. You have other things you have to take care of. You know what I mean?

You know, this, this, this subject that you bring up or how, you know, what you're talking about, it's, It's interesting that you, you say that, or you, you address that because over the last couple of years, I've noticed, I've noticed the shift, you know, it's like when I, you know, when I had first gotten involved with, I first, I first joined Apex and got involved with that stuff in July of 22. So it's been a little over, you know, not quite two and a half years, but I remember when I first got involved, of course, things had already, you know, the organization had already existed, things had already been going on for a period of time. And anybody that was either a member or not a member, but looking at it or whatever, anybody that was an entrepreneur or business person, you know, they'd already been, you know, living their life and running their career and their schedule, however they'd been running it. But yeah, the, the, the deal of, you know, you, you better, if you don't, if you don't have your ass up at four 30 or 5. And if you're not, if you're not thinking about work and doing work from the time you're up in the morning until the time, you know, until way after you go to bed, you better still be thinking about it and doing it in your head, even after you're asleep, you know, and that, that going on for, and there's nothing wrong with that. I mean, you know, hard work pays off. We both know that. But to me, it's kind of been interesting because I've, I've, I've seen like an evolution and all that from, you know, it's like, I can do, you know, you gotta, gotta be beating the streets and, and, you know, running it out, you know, eight days a week. And, and it's, it's like the, there's kind of been like a, I don't want to say a slowdown, but kind of a, almost like a little bit of a shift in things to where that's not, Again, and if you want to kind of tie this to what we were talking about earlier about your priorities as we get older and we live through life and we experience certain things and we go through the motions and what we think is important today, by tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, The same shit that we see as important and substantial today, it's likely not going to be the same six months or a year from now. And that doesn't mean that it's not still important, but your focus on what is substantial and what is priority, changes as we go through time, because I think the exposure to different things makes us realize, well, this shit that I was so worried about, that I thought was, man, I just had to do it this way. It just had to be this, this, and this. I had to be at everybody's beck and call all the time, and I had to worry about answering the phone, and I felt guilty if I didn't reply to that guy that asked about such and such, you know, fuck that, you know, not not saying that you're just like, you know, it's not it's not that we're just disregarding our career or our responsibility or our choices. But. People, you know, on the flip side of that, people also have to respect Or you hope that people will respect the fact that, hey, you know what? When I'm on my shit, I'm working my ass off and I'm writing for the brand and I'm doing what I need to do. When, when, when I, when I draw the line in the sand and I make the boundary and say, Hey, you know what, unless it's just absolutely critical life and death, you know, this is the boundary line. And when we get past there, you know, my family and, and, and other aspects of my life that deserve my time, you know, they, they need my time and attention and they deserve my time and attention. That's, that's where, that's where I'll be. And that's what I'll be focusing on. And, you know, it kind of feels good, you know, to grow up and get older. It doesn't really feel good to get older. It's like to kind of have this shift in what What I thought was important then, it's still important, but where I'm at now in life, that's not as important. I realize, you know, there's, there's a, there's a lot of shit that we think is important or we have to follow this or that. But then as, as time goes on, it's like, now, now this, this I'll be fine without that.

You know, one thing that I learned this year that didn't help me have like a little bit more because, you know, I mean, it's hard, you know, just because I try to have structure as much as I can. I mean, sometimes it's important. Yeah, it goes south, you know, and happens more often than what we actually want that I would love to acknowledge, but. You know, I mean, one thing that I understood, and based on what you're saying, too, is, you know, there's principles, right? We have principles in this world. In the universe, there's principles, right? And principles govern outcomes, right? And order, for example, is one of those principles. So I think most of entrepreneurs, man, what they don't have is they don't understand the principle of order, right? So when you apply that into your life, you know that, because the reality is that just because if you work eight hours or you work 14 hours and you're going to do the same shit, I mean, you're not gonna make more money by working more hours, you know, if you don't have order and structure in your life. So it applies in your business, it applies in what you need to do daily, right? To get closer to your goal, right? And this is very simple. And as more and less I apply in this man to my life, I've been finding myself by finishing my fucking day in four or five hours, you know? And then I'm like, why the fuck did I do now? You know, and I started getting stressed and anxious because I don't know what the fuck to do. Well, maybe just go spend, maybe you just shut the fuck up and go spend time with your daughter, you know? Things like that. Because when you start integrating that order into your life, and then you start realizing that, okay, yeah, I mean, like I was telling another guy in real estate, he was like, bro, like, why are you doing writing contracts at 9 p.m. at night? Nobody's gonna reply to you. They're probably gonna be like, yeah, I'm receiving, and they're not gonna go back to you until tomorrow morning. So why the fuck you just don't get it ready tomorrow morning, first thing in the morning? Instead of up here trying to write a contract almost at midnight, instead of being with your family, just, I think when you start bringing order, man, and like you were saying, you start putting your priorities. in order, like what's first, what's second. And then you put a plan together and how are you going to operate for business to generate income to way more clients, whatever that looks like. And the time that you spend with your family, man, you start bringing that structure. You realize that sometimes even 24 hours a day is more than enough to get the shit done that you need. You know what I mean? Very true.

No, absolutely not. You know, focusing, you know, focusing on on, you know, the things that that are you know, that, that you really need to prioritize. I mean, yeah, we can, any of us can, we can have this whole list of shit. Well, you know, of things to do that there can be, there can be 12 things on this list and three or four of them may be really your priority items, but then all this other little ancillary stuff that's mixed in there, those are just, you know, some of that stuff can sometimes be, you know, some sort of almost like a checklist item. It's like, well, if I get that done, then I feel, I feel good. Or I feel, you know, a lot of it is, you know, it's kind of like the, like, it's a psychological thing. It's like, you feel like, well, I feel like I got something done, but trying to do all that shit and trying to squeeze too much stuff into a time block or a time period that's not, if some of it is not priority, or if you prioritize shit that doesn't need to be priority above something that is a priority, then you're tripping yourself up.

Yeah, that's the biggest mistake we all make, man.

Oh, yeah, dude. I'm I'm fucking the world's fucking worst about prioritizing shit that you shouldn't prioritize.

So probably you should have delegated.

So I have to get everything done. You know, if I don't do it all, then I'm a failure.

yeah you know just but i think that's changing man i think people sort of realize that i think when you look at the past 10 years man i think social media accelerated that too you know it's like the grand culture and i think a lot of people for the past maybe i will say two years i've been seeing a lot of people start like no this is not the right shit to do this is not how things supposed to work, because that's all you see on social media. And I learned that about a year ago at a real estate investment event, the speakers on that event, it was people that you will never see on social media, never, ever. Maybe one or two of them, they do have a good following, a big following. all of these real estate investors, right? But the majority of the people in there, man, they're not even speakers. They're just there because they're fucking operators, you know? And they're not on social media most of the time. They're fucking building a business. And this is people that you see on the streets and you'll see like, oh, this is a normal person, but those motherfuckers are multimillionaires, you know? Doing a shit ton of money, living the dream life and not putting all this shiny shit on social media or busting their ass for getting about their families and other important things, you know, like that's when I was like, man, this is crazy because that's that's what my priorities change, you know, to like, you know what, man, I want to be an operator. That's what I want to go.

You know, I'm I'm a lot like that, you know, like the, you know, talking about social media. Part of me wants to refer to social media as kind of like a double-edged sword because it has its pros and cons. But sometimes I think social media is more like a fucking blender. It can misconstrue things. There's a lot of good that you can potentially use it for, you know, in a marketing sense, in a marketing capacity, and, you know, what other mechanism do people have readily available to them that you can reach out to, you know, you can put your information or if you're in real estate, you're advertising your inventory, your products, how else can you get that out in front of you know, such a mass of people, you know, it's, it's kind of like the law of statistics, you know, the more people that you can get it in front of, you get your information in front of, you know, statistically, the more feedback or probability that you're going to have to potentially, you know, sell your product or at least get hits and get interest in it. And that's, you know, that's, I think that's one of the good things from social media, but then again, it has, it has created a lot of, uh, a lot of, A lot of, uh, misconceptions about things, a lot of perceptions about shit, you know, all this, you know, blowing and going and doing all this shit, you know, showing, looking, looking all, you know, all flash and cash and this and that on, on social media. But when it comes down to it, you know, a lot of times you find out some of that's, you know, it's fucking bullshit.

Yeah, they make it look like so simple. Yeah, it's all smokey mirrors and they probably don't even have the track record and probably half of their shit they have on their videos is rented. You know, because really, man, you know, I mean, you've been in business for a shit ton, like for a long time, bro. I haven't been an entrepreneur for even a decade yet, you know, so I see it, man. I mean, this is shit. It's not it's not easy, you know, like I think most days you're going to feel like quitting and not doing shit then. than all this shit looking all happy on social media every single day. You know, like that's that's not the reality, man. Like the reality is it gets nasty. Sometimes it gets boring. You know, sometimes it's like shit where where this next deal is going to come from. And that's the reality of it. You know what I mean?

There's there's ups and downs. It's not all ups. You know, I mean, you know, there's highs and lows and it's not it's not always, you know, some shit you want to smile about every single day. I mean, there's there's

There's, yeah. And I think the perspective that I have to change, man, and a lot of people too. And I think, because like I said, man, I think at some point we all feel like overwhelmed more than what we're supposed to be because of the perception that we have, like you said, on social media and all that stuff. And sometimes that shit is, you can see it and it's like, no, that's bullshit. But I believe at the unconscious level is somehow affecting you and changing something in you in the back of your head, because then you find yourself, I don't know you, man, but I have found myself sometimes. almost acting like a little bitch. And I was like, wait a second, like, I already know this. You know, I already know this is part of the problem. I already know this is part of the journey. Like, I have to welcome the pressure that is going to come my way because he's going to be, you're going to find pressure all the way up to the top of the mountain. And finally, when you get to that top, it's just realize that there's more fucking mountains.

Yeah. You just, you, you, you got to the peak and the top of that mountain. And now you're high enough that you can see that there's a taller one that you still got to go. You got to go to the valley to get to the fucking tower.

Yeah. But then, you know, you know, I mean, I think you see it so so many times on social media, even if you don't believe it. But I do believe unconsciously is affecting you.

And so I agree.

You know, just crawling.

I think I think in On some levels, or in some capacities, it kind of, for some people, it creates this unspoken, I guess for lack of a better word, I'm gonna say like an expectation, like people, I think some people kind of fall victim to it. It's like they feel like Well, there's this, this expectation of sorts that they have to meet to, you know, to get themselves to, Oh, well, God name, you know, that guy, look, look, look at what that guy's doing. Look at all the shit he's got, you know, look at, look at, you know, he's like, like every day for him is awesome. Well, every day ain't fucking awesome. And you and I both know that. No, it's not. But a lot of people. They I think they kind of fucking, you know, it's kind of like they fall into the trap and they get they get sucked into that. And you start feeling like you're like you're you're you're you're missing the mark or you're falling short or you're not you're not doing enough and this and that. And it's like, no, it's you have to realize that. There there's, there's good days and bad days, and I don't give a fuck what you see in social media or on the news media or anywhere, you know, it's, it's not every day is a good day, but you know, you just gotta be, you gotta be willing to work through all of it.

you know man but then you have the issue that when you start going down that route people start going leaning towards the other side and start having their self-care day and start like like all these send bullshit that you see like like like good vibes and all that shit fuck your vice man like i don't like I mean, I'm sorry I had to say it that way, man, but it's the reality, bro. You know, it's like, you know, man, like, like, like, yeah, take some time to clear your mind and all and stuff, but you don't need to do all this grounding bullshit in the morning and have like a thousand step morning routine so you can operate like motherfucker. By the time you're done with that, she already finished my day, you know? for real bro it's just like it's just all this sentimentalism and all this like softness and all this like like let's find a safe space where we won't have any stress and all this shit you know man the stress is uh The thing was yesterday that Pastor was saying, last time, like stress, stress is not good or bad. It is the meaning that you give to it. So you decide to give it back, it's going to be bad. If you decide to be a good thing for your life, it's going to be a good thing for your life because you can either use it to destroy you, or you can use it to actually build yourself and build that fortitude and that mental toughness and other things that you need to overcome anything that you have or you want in life. You know what I mean? it's it becomes a whole like you say it's all this shit man it's like people's going through one stream to the other one you know what i mean that's how i see it i don't know because i really don't give a shit about a lot of things in terms of like like i don't i don't get my feelings involved you know what i mean it's like i don't have time for people's feeling and i'm not trying to be an asshole you know i mean there's situations where you have to be condescending whatever Yeah, but you have to be condescending with people and things like that. But there's situations and most of the situations is like your feelings don't matter here. You know what I mean? It's like, I don't know, man. It's just it. I don't know. Maybe that's that's how I am because that's how life made me, you know, like.

Well, everybody, I mean, Hey, everybody approaches and looks at things differently. You know, I've heard a saying before. Uh, I forget exactly how it was worded, but it was something, something to the effect of, you know, life life is only about, you know, uh, about 10%, about 10% of it is what, what you encounter or what affects you. And the other 90% is how do you respond to it? How do you, how do you react? How do you respond to it? And how do you handle it? And, you know, not everybody has the capability or the mental ability to, you know, be solid about it and, you know, kind of take shit, you know, take it in stride and be like, you know, a lot of people let, they let very small things and very minor situations, you know, really fucking, you know, fuck them up. And a lot of people, a lot of people don't there. A lot of people are not. Extremely resilient and not, you know, they can't they can't handle and deal with adversity well. But that's you know, that's that's what that's what separates, you know, one group from from the next group.

So, yeah, no, absolutely, man. But I think it's like I said, that's what I'm bringing this up, because I think I know a lot of people, including myself, I found myself in places where You understand that, you know what I mean? Like you were saying, I completely understand that. But sometimes I'm like, why the fuck I'm acting like this, you know? But it's because of all this shit that you keep feeding yourself through all these channels, you know what I mean? That you see all the people doing. It's almost like. like, you know, the participation trophy culture, right? Like that shit has been going for so long that people is like, like, can I get at least a recognition for my, for participating, whatever? No, it doesn't work that way. I think it's, it's weird, man. How is it, how it affects your, your, your psychic and how it affects your mentality when, I mean, even if you don't want to pay attention to it, it just shows how important it is to expose yourself to the right things, you know, because you can not believe in certain things, right? but you keep getting exposed to it. Eventually you start believing that shit, you know?

Yeah. What do they call it? Like the, like the mockingbird effect. Yeah. You, you hear something, you, you, you hear something over and over and over, you know, repetitiously and, and eventually, you know, it, it becomes, it becomes truth and it becomes, you know, it becomes your, your, your reality or your truth because you, you see it and hear it repetitiously. And it may not be correct, or it may not be the truth, but just for the fact that that's all you've heard over and over and over, that's all you've seen and experienced, it's like, well, again, kind of like the law of statistics, it's like, well, I've seen this or heard this more than anything else, so it must be true.

Yep. A hundred percent. Yeah, man.

Kind of scary how that happens.

It is scary, man. Yeah. That's why it's important. Like I said, man, I think I noticed that started happening to me a little bit more when I stopped investing or like having daily time on like self-development or listening to to certain things, you know, because like I said, man, for me, this year has been like all this shit has been overwhelming. It's like, I don't want to do any self-defense. I don't want to do any of this bullshit. And I kind of like I still coach with some people at the beginning of the year, then kind of like took a break and. And I'm like, man, I realized that I still needed it, but I just needed a break, kind of like clarity to where I wanted to go and who I wanted to listen to, because that's important to like who do you who you're listening, you know, a lot of people out there.

It's just like it's just like your diet. What do you what are you putting? What are you feeding in your in your diet? What is your what is your daily intake? What are you feeding your body or sense? You know, what are you feeding your mind? You know exactly who you talk to, who you listen to. what you hear, what you see, all that intake, that affects us mentally, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually. I mean, all that shit plays a part.

And you also need to know who do you need to listen. And there are certain people that you cannot listen for certain things, right? Like, I'm not going to listen to somebody about marriage advice or someone who's been divorced three fucking times. You know what I mean? or someone that is in marriage less time than me, for example. That's a great example. I'm not going to take advantage of it.

You will never catch me or hear me trying to give anybody a relationship advice.

Yeah.

Or like, man, like how to... I'm trying to get better, but I don't give advice to nobody.

It's like trying to give a million dollar advice when you haven't even make a million dollars. You know what I mean? It's just stupid and it doesn't make sense, but you have a lot of these people out there telling you how to do it. You know what I mean? That's why I made that post yesterday about like, you have these fucking gurus out here like talking to you about how you have to discover your purpose. Yet there's change every six fucking months, you know? And a lot of people got triggered about it, bro. But the reality is that There was one guy who's like, yeah, but the purpose of serving regardless of the means, man, if your purpose is serving, you're fucking aiming so low. That's your fucking obligation. Like to serve other people and to help other people, that shouldn't be your purpose. That's like low level. That's entry level because that's something that we all call to do to serve other people. You know what I mean? That's why you're in business. That's why we do certain things. That's why you have... opportunities that other people don't have, right? They have new experiences that other people don't have. So you can serve them through those experiences and kind of help them to, right? Like, that's why it says that saying it happens doesn't happen for you happens to happens to you happens for you, right? But I feel also happens for other people. So I'm like, like this fucking guy means like, like, serving, yeah, serving is your purpose, man, then you're fucking aiming too low, you know, where you cannot be telling people out here, that talking about, because I saw somebody talking about discovering your purpose and all this shit. And then when I'm looking at like, like the context and everything was like, like all your shit is just the same generic bullshit as other people do. Why are you doing different to tell people that they should find their purpose? And I'm not trying to criticize or anything, man. It's just like, like, I cannot listen to you. Like, like, look, I see to your, I see your shit and it doesn't make any sense. You know, I don't even know who the fuck you are.

Yeah, it's hard to take someone, you know, seriously, if you if you don't agree with, you know, what they're what they're showing or how they're showing it.

I mean, that's yeah. And you know, but that also applies to like us as individuals, which is one of the reasons why I also. I took a step back this year for several things. I'm like, man, if I'm going to be running my mouth, it's because it's something that I experienced or I have experience with, or something that I learned or something that I went through. I'm not going to try to tell people how to do certain things when I haven't done them yet. And how does I just coming back to reality? Because I think when you're a part of this, all this social media stuff and, and the grind culture and like all the shit that we, you learn in all these mastermind groups and networking groups, sometimes puts you in a place where you feel like you have to do all this shit and be the expert and everything, but you don't have the experience. So you have no authority to say shit. So learn it first, you know, and share as you go in whatever stage of life you are, you know, but don't be out here talking to me about It's almost like telling people that I'm a millionaire because I have so many millions of dollars worth of real estate, but the reality is that that's just the sales price, right? That doesn't make me a millionaire.

I bet that's happened more than once.

There's a lot of people that act like that, man, because, you know, they saw a few, like they have sold millions of dollars worth of real estate, but they're acting like they're millionaires. Now you're not a millionaire yet. So, but that's how a lot of people act, bro. So it's like, I don't want to be one of those guys. And I feel like at some point I was kind of going down that path just because I wanted to bring my presence and grow my brand and all that stuff is like, fuck it, man. I don't, I need to like, I need to take a step back and, and, and go accordingly to where I am, you know what I mean? Because then it makes me a fake motherfucker, you know?

No, I, I, I, I feel from, from what I know and the way that I'm used to operating and the way that I've, you know, have traditionally, you know, worked in my career and done business and stuff. I feel like I can relate because, you know, when I got, when I got more into this deal of, of, you know, the, the social media stuff and, and learning more, I guess, learning more about trying to utilize it for, you know, for positive benefit, you know, for building your brand and using it to help grow your business and all that stuff. Because like in my industry and in my business, I didn't, you know, I had conversations with people in the past about a vast majority, probably almost all of my customers and, and, you know, any work, any, any work that I'd sold in the past or business that I had had sold or acquired, you know, with, with my business or, you know, as far as pursuing customers, building relationships and all that, it's, it's my background in dealing with people is all like pretty much all the relationships are, we're all developed organically just from going out and meeting people. And, and I'm, I've always been more of a, a hands on type person going out and fucking, you know, working out in the field, getting dirty. Not that not that that's any better or worse than than, you know, the the building your brand and doing stuff, you know, through social media and all that. But it's been it was like a hell of a learning curve. It was like culture shock almost to me. to get more experience, more understanding with that. And yeah, I still, for what I do with work and business, I still don't have a huge utilization of social media for that. A lot of what I use for social media, I put some stuff out there and it's mainly to kind of keep in contact with people and you know, using it in that capacity, not so much that I'm trying to, I'm trying to push my business and, and, you know, build my brand and push my business, you know, using that as a, as a vehicle. But it's, it's, it's different than what I was used to with, with work and, and, and business. And so it's, it's been, I'm kind of like in the spot, kind of like where you're at. I'm more used to, hey, instead of, you know, instead of looking, I'm going to get on and, you know, talk about all the shit I'm doing with my business or what I'm going to do with my business. I'm more used to let's just go out and fucking let's go get it done. Yeah. Yeah. And then, you know, we'll we'll we'll talk about the other shit later.

But you have a lot of experience that you can actually share with people, you know, especially just exiting a business. I mean, that's huge. You know, not many people can do that.

Yeah, it's, it, it, I mean, I'm, I'm still learning about it because there's still parts of the process, you know, that, that, you know, on the backend of it, that we're trying to, you know, get finalized and cleaned up. There's still stuff that I'm trying to learn about. And, and I'm, I'm hoping that in the coming years, um, I'm actually, you know, and there's a couple of guys that I've met and talked to that that's kind of what they do, um, as a, as a profession, or at least in part, you know, they, they acquire businesses and, and, either, you know, go in and, you know, evaluate a business, acquire it, you know, restructure things, flip it, build it and sell it. And to me, that's, that's interesting. I mean, it's, it's, but it's, it's, like I said, I've always been used to everything I've done as a career has always been like hands-on, like, we gotta get dirty, you know, it's all, I've been an operation, you know, I've been a salesperson, but also heavy in the ops. And that's, I don't know, the deal with understanding this business, you know, this transaction has been, it's been interesting.

That's crazy, yeah. I mean, it's just crazy just to think about, like, you can literally grab a I mean, it's because, let's put it this way, it's not like something physical, something that you can touch, right? It's just fucking paperwork systems and processes that you can turn around and fucking sell it. That blows my mind. I'm still not there to understand that because, you know.

And it exists though. That's a whole thing. It's a fucking, it's a big thing too, but yeah.

I mean, you know, I mean, I think that's the crazy, the crazy thing about, uh, even though with all the fucking crazy stuff going on in politics, but it's just crazy, man. How, um, here in America, bro, is just like, literally you can turn anything into a freaking opportunity. And the craziest thing is that there's somebody willing to buy it. Just like that. Just like that girl selling farts in a freaking yard. Are you kidding me, bro? He's like, it was insane. You know?

So there's, there's a, there's pretty much a market and at least one buyer for, for anything. I don't give a fuck what it is.

Yeah. It's insane. It's crazy, bro. But I mean, that's a blessing that we have, you know, I believe so.

Yeah. That's, that's good. No. How, uh, you talking to, you know, like, like you're, you're originally from where is it from Guatemala? Yeah. Guatemala. Okay. How many, how many years, how long have you been in the U S?

Uh, 11 years, I think 11 years, about 11 years, something like that. Yeah. It's, it's been quite the journey, man. You know?

So what, what, what was it? What, what was it that brought you brought you here from, from Guatemala, something specific or just an opportunity to change the scenery or, you know, man, pretty much, um, just, um, running away from everything, you know, that's, that's literally what brought me here.

Um, You know, I, my mom's here right now, you know, so just, just hearing her talking about the little issues here and there that my sister struggled, the same shit that they go through is like, man, nothing has changed back there in 11 years. It's the same fucking bullshit. And I'm not saying that my family is a bad thing or they're bad people. You know, it's just, it's just a mentality, bro. You know? Um, even though I grew up in a good family, you know, my dad, he built a successful business. He still has the business, but it's not as it used to be 15, 20 years ago. No, he got 30, 50 employees. It was a huge operation. So I went to private school and they pay for college, which I never finished. And yeah, it's just, and you know, so I grew up really spoiled. So, I mean, in my 20s, man, I was just that little brat that thought the world owes me something, you know? And it was just partying, drinking, just what everybody else does, you know? But I always had this chip on my shoulder, man, of I want to do my own shit. I don't want to work for anybody. And I tried to have several jobs. I think the longest I ever lasted in a job was like eight months, and they fucking kicked me out. Actually, that was my last job between then and a year, year and a half before I moved to the States. I worked at the Korean embassy, bro. I was working there, random job that I got in. Got in a fight with one of my coworkers, so they took me out of there with handcuffs and everything. It was a fun time, bro. I always had that chip on my shoulder, man. There's something else for me, bro. There's something else. Just the way I grew up, man, the mentality, not only of my family, but The culture in general, bro, you know, I was like, fuck man, I don't feel like I fit in here. So long story short, bro, I went to different things live at what year in Costa Rica. I went there to try to finish college, got engaged, didn't work out. Then one day, man, just pray to God, like, just give me one chance to get the fuck out of here. Like, and through a friend got the opportunity to come and work here. I was in Virginia beach and. Man, I just bought that flight ticket and it was a one-way ticket. And I'm like, I don't even know what I'm doing.

No, no return buckets.

Yeah. No, seriously. I was like, no, not coming back until I figured this shit out. So I think last year was the first time I went back, man, you know, in 20 years, that was, it took me that long to, to come back home and, and And bro is just, I mean, when I see my life, man, I'm like. I think there's, there's, I do believe with my whole heart that God has a plan for my life. You know what I mean? Everybody, everybody does, you know? Yeah, absolutely. For everybody. But, uh, you know, when I see my life, you know, and I'm not saying this, my I'm superior to anybody, but the way I feel towards my own self, you know, how I see myself because man, I, the past 10 years, man, I went through so many shit. I put myself in positions that couldn't easily meet the poor, my ass out of here, you know? And then when I look at my life, man, living in Texas, the people I have in my life, the people I'm surrounded with, the groups that I belong to, the church that I belong to, all that stuff, man, is just like, I always have this constant reminder, man, that it's kind of encouraged me, but it's very freaking scary. I'm not gonna even tattoo that freaking Bible verse on my arm to just keep reminding myself, but it's Luke 28 something. that literally says to who much is given, much is required. So when I hear that, it makes me think like I'm privileged, bro, because I have people in my life throughout this journey in the past decade that They did the same mistakes, you know, I probably worse, worse mistakes than them. They fuck the entire lives. Well, there are still in the same place. You know, the people that I came here with, one of them literally fuck his entire life. The other one still in the same place and fat fuck doing the same job that he's been doing for fucking almost 10 years, bro. You know, um, while I'm here, having the opportunity to be in the right places with the right people, you know, and having the opportunities that I have. And now the family that I have, having a daughter and all that stuff, it's like, man, this is what I, it just keeps coming to my mind, like to who much is giving much is required. So the way I feel about it, it's like, yeah, I'm privileged and I'm blessed because a lot has been given to me, but there's a fucking demand on myself. You know, it's almost like.

You know what I mean? I think a lot of the opportunities that exist out in the world, and you're a lot like me. People that have a mind and an eye for opportunities in different capacities, they can spot it, they can see it. And opportunities are out there in many forms. And they're available to damn near anybody. But I think only certain people that can recognize them or that have the willingness to, you know, fucking do the work and do what it takes to pursue those opportunities and make more out of them. Those are the people that benefit. You know, it's kind of tough, man. It's unfortunate, in a sense, to see people you know or to meet someone and think, man, this person's got potential. Why are they not, you know, that this shit's out there for the taking? Why are they not doing it? You know, why are they? But you can't, you know, it's kind of like you can leave the water, but you can't make it drink. It kind of like that. Exactly. You can't. Yeah. Not not everybody. Not everybody is cut from the same cloth and not everybody's cut out to do the same shit. So.

Yeah. And you know, I mean, I think at least with the people that are in your circle around you, I think they all have the same opportunities. They all see the same opportunities. You know what I mean? Obviously you cannot compare the opportunities that you and I have with the people that are in a third world country. Right. It's different, but I mean, at least in your circle and like your closest circle, your, the, whatever you live, I think a lot of people have the same opportunities, but, um, and I think life gives you the opportunity to do things differently. It gives you like, Hey, different perspective, especially if you have this average mentality. And so like I did, you know, I was average as fuck, man. And the people that that was there were my friends and all that stuff. I we all literally have the same path, very similar path. We were doing the same shit for several years. But our life took different direction just because of the decisions that we made, but we both had the same opportunities.

Well, not, not ever, not everybody. Yeah, I agree. Everybody, you know, has the same opportunity or has typically has the same access to the same opportunity, but not, not everybody is willing to go and buy the one way ticket to Virginia either. So, yeah.

Yeah. So, yeah, you know, so, uh, I don't, I don't know, man, it's just crazy, but I, I feel like, and that's what I encourage a lot of people to, you know, and just, you know, man, when, when you look at like, Even whoever listens to this, even if you're making, in general terms, I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think if you're making over six figures a year, right? But for example, in Frisco, Texas, right? Frisco, big city, I think the average income is like $125,000 a year for a household, right? That's the average income in Frisco. And if you're making that, it puts you like in the 1%, because I think it's 1% worldwide. And people are fucking struggling with that, man. You know what I mean? It's crazy. Even though if you make like 70 grand, I think, a year, I think you're in the top fucking 5% or 10% worldwide of the richest people in the world. So someone making less than $100,000, $70,000, $80,000 is richer than fucking 85, 90% of the world. That's some shit, ain't it? That's some shit. Yeah, imagine that. So then when, and that's what I'm saying, you know, like what, that's where I encourage people with that verse that I identify for my life, right? But it's something that I used to, to encourage people to like, just fucking look at what you have and what's in your hands, you know? Like there's good, there's, there's a, every time I ask myself, but almost every day, like, what are you doing with what you have in your hands? You know? And what I mean by that is like, well, my business, family, relationships, everything, right? What are you doing with all this shit? Because someday, Like a lot of people made in my experience with these other friends that I used to have that we got in all this together when I came here, we both have the same shit in our hands. You know, what are you doing with it? You know, because if you're not doing something with it, life is going to take it away from you, you know, or, you know what I mean? Or you can get the opportunity to, to get more because you actually store what you had in your hands correctly. You know what I mean? So, It is. That's what I'm saying. It's scary, but it's empowering to, you know, because it's like, what are you doing with what you have in your hands, man? Like there's there's a demand for what has been given to you and you're supposed to be doing something with it. To serve other people to make a difference, right, that's what I was saying with that guy comments, it's like you're fucking thinking too low, man, like that's the entry level. So but yeah, man, it's just crazy, bro. It's just. It's something that gets me on my feet, you know, like gets me. Grounded and just gets reminded me every single day not to fuck things up.

It's a, it's a, it's a constant process, but it's good, man. It's good. Shit. Good shit. No. Yeah, bro. Well, I'll, uh, I guess we've been at it for a hot minute and I don't want to soak up too much time or get anybody too bored, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It was good talking to you.

Yeah, man. It was a great conversation, really.

Good catching up. We'll have to try and do it again. Like I said, like I was telling you about the last guy, when I was visiting with Ty, it was like, Well, we got, we, we, we, we found a stopping point, but I feel like, you know, the, we could have continued and, and, and could very likely continue talking, you know, on and on and on, but that's good because hell it's, it's, it's good to have good conversation and good, a good share of information and ideas. I like it.

Yeah, no, absolutely. Man. Thanks for having me, bro. Absolutely. I appreciate you. I definitely wanted to share a couple of things today, man.

I appreciate it greatly.

Thank you. Thanks a lot for having me, bro.

Absolutely. Tell, uh, tell mama I said hello and, and y'all have a good, uh, have a good holiday, have a good Thanksgiving or y'all, uh, y'all staying local.

Yeah, I was staying here. We're just going to go to broken bow, like after Thanksgiving, uh, for a couple of days, we have a cabin. We got a cabin out there. So, oh, okay. Yeah.

Just to get out of this place for a little bit, get a little break from it and then yeah. Oh yeah.

That's exactly right, bro.

Good deal. I'll let you get back to it. I appreciate your time.

Thanks a lot, man. Thanks for having me, bro.

Take care of yourself, man. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Bye-bye.
